A network of community resources instigating humane engagement in society through education and art.

The Homie Front

HEYO, WELCOME TO THE HOMIE FRONT <3

We’re a cohort of artist-educators working as substitute teachers in Minneapolis. We work in and with community for collective wellbeing.

We use substitute teaching as a pathway for facilitating artistic residencies in hard to access communities experiencing scarcity. Based in Minnesota, we focus on tribal, rural, and urban environments.

THE HOMIE FRONT COMMUNITY NETWORK IS LOOKING FOR COLLABORATORS;

Darling Artists,

Serving as a relief educator is a flexible and fulfilling way to find financial stability in a dynamic field of work. This role provides a pathway for direct service to one's community, relieves burden from educators, and generates opportunities to nurture a society that values play. Fostering safe, authentic connection between artists and young people contributes to the creative potential of our society's future.

With collective effort substitute teaching can act as a point of departure for ongoing artistic residencies in hard to access communities, generating a network of robust organizational and community support for touring performers, and cultivating a source of community enrichment.

Esteemed Organizers,

At the heart of this work is the belief that people should know each other better, and play together more. Substitute teaching can serve as a practical entry point into substantive, long term relationship building with hard to access communities experiencing scarcity.

With support, Homie Front Community Network is capable of becoming a pillar of enrichment for students, artists, and communities throughout Minnesota. Collaborative leadership and strong partner bonds are necessary for the successful implementation of this unique community engagement method. We are currently looking to fill the roles of Managing Director and Communications Director.

Beloved Educators,

Imagine a world where guest teacher days bring your students unique, enriching learning experiences that support your class’s core curriculum. Homie Front Ambassadors - currently serving in Minneapolis - bring expertise in the fields of creative problem solving, dynamic leadership, and authentic connection to students and school ecosystems.

We believe youth stand to benefit from learning in community with working artists. With intentional engagement and continued interest we hope to build long term relationships with schools and districts, contributing our unique talents to the network of support public education provides for Minnesotan students.

OUR GOAL

We are establishing a Minneapolis based cohort of artist-educators dedicated to building a state wide network of ongoing artistic residencies through substitute teaching and public art events in MN.
